چکیده

The radiation emitted from highly charged tungsten ions has been measured at the Berlin Electron Beam Ion trap using high-resolution x-ray and EUV spectrometers. Highly charged tungsten ions ranging from Pm-like W to N-like W have been produced and excited in EBIT. The line emission originating from electric and magnetic dipole transitions is studied in a wide wavelength range from 0.12 to 80 nm. The results of our measurements are compared with predicted transition wavelengths from atomic structure calculations and observations at the ASDEX Upgrade tokamak. Here we focus on the quasi-continuum emission around 5 nm from tungsten ions with an open 4d shell (In-like W to Rb-like W) and the Lshell spectra of ions with configurations close to Ne-like one.

Tungsten Measurement on Alcator C-Mod and EBIT for Future Fusion Reactors

Tungsten will be an important element in nearly all future fusion reactors because of its presence in plasma facing components. This makes tungsten a good candidate for a diagnostic element for ion temperature and toroidal velocity measurement, and it makes understanding tungsten emissions important for tokamak power balance. The effect of tungsten on tokamak plasmas is investigated at the Alca...

Correlating Grain Size to Radiation Damage Tolerance of Tungsten Materials Exposed to Relevant Fusion Conditions

Gonderman, Sean Robert. M.S.N.E., Purdue University, August 2014. Correlating Grain Size to Radiation Damage Tolerance of Tungsten Materials Exposed to Relevant Fusion Conditions. Major Professor: Jean Paul Allian. Tungsten remains a leading candidate for plasma facing component (PFC) in future fusion devices. This is in large part due to its strong thermal and mechanical properties. The ITER p...

Radiative Recombination and Photoionization Data for Tungsten Ions. Electron Structure of Ions in Plasmas

Theoretical studies of tungsten ions in plasmas are presented. New calculations of the radiative recombination and photoionization cross-sections, as well as radiative recombination and radiated power loss rate coefficients have been performed for 54 tungsten ions for the range W–W. The data are of importance for fusion investigations at the reactor ITER, as well as devices ASDEX Upgrade and EB...

بررسی شتاب‌دهی ذرات باردار از طریق باز‌اتصالی مغناطیسی در محیط‌های پلاسمایی

Magnetic reconnection, which occurs in high conducting plasmas, changes the topology of magnetic field lines and converts magnetic energy into the kinetic and thermal energy of plasma and also accelerates charged particles. This phenomenon plays an important role in changing the dynamic of laboratory and space plasmas such as fusion tokamaks and sun’s corona. The electric and magnetic fields ge...

Density dependence of the forbidden lines in Ni-like tungsten

The magnetic-octupole (M3) and electric-quadrupole (E2) transitions between the ground state 3d 1S0 and the lowest excited 3d 4s (5/2, 1/2) J = 3 and J = 2 states in the Ni-like tungsten are shown to exhibit a strong dependence on electron density Ne in the range of values typical for tokamak plasmas. Remarkably, the total intensity of these overlapping lines remains almost constant, which may ...
